NLP & Depression
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is great for people suffering from depression. Many people who are suffering from depression think that they have no choice but to feel sad. This was either told to them by their doctor or what they’ve heard other people say.
This is simply not the case. There are many things that you can do to get out of depression.
NLP works at the very core of the problem. That is, at the beliefs level. Because there came a time in your life that you decided to be sad, either you were sad as a child or you had trauma in your childhood.
We know this because you weren’t sad as a baby, and not as a toddler either. There was something in your past that caused you to be sad.
For instance, you might have had an experience in your childhood where your parents had to work to make ends meet and couldn’t spend any time with you. As an adult you think to yourself, ‘This makes sense’. But as a child, it’s a big deal. You think your parents don’t love you. You feel sad and not treated can turn into depression.
You see, the child forms the belief from the child’s perspective which is flawed. It gets carried through to adulthood and doesn’t serve you anymore. In fact the belief is a lie.
These beliefs cause you to have negative thinking. Beliefs such as ‘I’m not good enough’, or ‘I’m worthless’, can cause negative thinking patterns that can bring on a negative spiral into depression.
What NLP does is that it goes back into the past to give your younger self the resources that they need to resolve the issue and move on. The healing releases the feeling of sadness allowing you to get out of depression.
